Club Championship & Handicap Championship 2021

For the many new members who have joined the club last year and this season, this may be the first exposure to our Club Championship which begins with the qualifying round next Saturday (June 12th).  He is how this works.

The qualifying round for the Club Championship will be a standard strokeplay event.  After the qualifying round the top forty gross scores and ties will qualify for rounds 2 and 3.  Run in conjunction with the Club Championship qualifying is the Handicap Championship Rnd 1.  The top 36 net scoresand ties will qualify for the 2nd round of the Handicap Championship.  It is highly likely that a number of players may qualify for both and, as such, can choose to participate in both Championships or only one, but this must be confirmed before the draw for the subsequent round()

On Saturday 19th June (Championship Day) the Youths Championship, Club Championship and Handicap Championship will all be contested.  The Youths Championship will be 2 rounds on the day, the Club Championship will be over 3 rounds with the qualifying round score added to 2 rounds on the day.  The Handicap Championship will over 2 rounds with the qualifying score added to one round on the Championship Day.

If any player qualifies for the Club Championship and Handicap Championship and elects to participate in both, then the 1st round score on Championship Day (morning round) will be added to his qualifying score to complete his score for the Handicap Championship.  If any player qualifies for both the Club Championship and Handicap Championship and chooses not to participate in the Club Championship, he will play only one round on championship day.

Order of play on Championship Day will be:

Youths Championship Rnd 1

Club Championship Rnd 2

Handicap Championship Rnd 2

Youths Championship Rnd 2

Club Championship Rnd 3.

The Club Champion will have the lowest total gross score over 3 rounds.  The Youths Champion will have the lowest gross total over the 2 rounds and the Handicap Champion will have the lowest nett total over 2 rounds.  Current HCI will apply to both rounds in the Handicap Championship.  In the event of a tie, the Club Championship will be settled in a play off over holes 1 thru 3 (strokeplay), followed by sudden deathfrom the 4th if still tied.  The Handicap & Youths Championships will be settled on countback.

The top 16 finishers in the Club Championship qualify for a further event which is the Matchplay Championship and ties will be drawn on Championship Day.
